La Celebración del Día de los Muertos – Day of the Dead Celebration

On Saturday October 26th from 4-10pm, ALPHA will participate in this celebration at Artscape Wychwood Barns (601 Christie St. at St. Clair) by setting up this year’s version of what has now become our traditional altar in recognition of those who have passed on.

Partnered with the Día de Los Muertos Collective  which is a nonprofit that coordinates the efforts of Toronto´s Mexican community to bring a celebration that honours the dead, delights the living, promotes artistic creation and foster community development through tradition, ALPHA will bring it’s own special flavour to the event that includes:

  • A Gallery Exhibition
  • First Nations Drum Circle and Dance
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Aztec Dance Ceremony
  • Installations
  • Music
  • Performances
  • Traditional Mexican Food
  • Workshops
  • and, of course, Altars

A dedicated group of Parents, Teachers and Children are hard at work to get our display together and we could use some help with a couple of items: marigolds and battery operated tea lights (candles). If you or someone you know has access to these items, the offering would be greatly appreciated! We are taking items in at the school up until noon hour, Friday October 25th.
